Abstract

1462195 Supply systems for gas discharge lamps R B W LOWNDES 25 Oct 1974 [5 Oct 1973] 46608/73 Heading H2H [Also in Division F4] A circuit for controlling a flashing xenon warning lamp comprises a chopper circuit 40 powered by a battery or other D.C. supply, a rectifier circuit 41 which supplies a rectified voltage via plugs SK1, SK2 to an oscillator circuit 42A, and a lamp firing circuit 43 which supplies firing pulses to the control electrode of the lamp. The oscillator circuit comprises a unijunction transistor UJ1 the base B1 of which is connected to the gate of a silicon controlled rectifier SCR1 in the firing circuit. SCR1 controls the discharge of capacitor C1 which causes a voltage to be induced in inductor L1 to fire the lamp. 17 is an octal plug on which the lamp is mounted.
