Abstract

1334245 Burner ignition and control HONEYWELL Inc 12 Nov 1970 [27 Feb 1969] 53966/70 Heading F4T An ignition and control system for a burner 10 which has a spark igniter 14, 15, includes means such as a relaxation oscillator including S.C.R. Q4 for energizing the igniter, a flame detector such as flame rod 16, a switch such as S.C.R. Q2 for controlling a fuel supply valve 25, and a safety timer including capacitive voltage divider 50, 51, the timer being energized from supply terminals 11, 12 on a demand for heat but the energizing charge leaking away through timing resistors 26, 81 unless the flame rod 16 senses flame at the burner head and so supplies energy on line 42 to maintain the charge on the capacitors 50, 51 and on line 41 to disable the igniter 14, 15. Unless the flame rod senses flame within a predetermined start-up period or should the flame extinguish during burner operation, the charge on capacitors 26, 81 will decay causing S.C.R. Q2 to switch off the fuel valve 25, and the relaxation oscillator and thus the igniter.
