Abstract

Burner control e.g. for heating system has a standby condition in which the air supplying blower runs at slow speeds and only the igniting pilot burner is burning. The system has a full on position in which the blower runs with normal speed and the main burner is in operation. The control system has preferably a manually operated switch for opening the igniting burner valve and has also a flame control system which keeps the igniting valve open when the manually actuated switch is released when the flame is present. Gaseous or liquid fuel passes through a main valve only when the ignition valve is open. The slow speed blower supplies the air for maintaining the igniting flame. A safety device ensures that repeated ignition of the burner will not result in explosions due to the fuel residues.
