1286956 Ignition systems JOSEPH LUCAS (INDUSTRIES) Ltd 31 Dec 1969 [10 Jan 1969J 1637/69 Heading F1B An ignition system for an internal-combustion engine includes an electrically powered radiation source 24, a radiation receiver 25, means 22 driven by the engine for exposing the receiver to the source when a spark is required, means 28, 30, 31 operable when the receiver is exposed to the source for producing a spark and means 27 for controlling the supply of power to the source so that the source is operated at full power only when the receiver is exposed to the source. A modification comprising a condenser discharge ignition system is described.
