Abstract

146,021. Lundin, A. P. Oct. 14, 1919. Inflators, carrying and securing.-A locking-device for securing a bicycle pump against theft comprises a vertical rod 20 the bent upper end 21 of which takes into the top of the pump C. The lower end of the rod is screwed into a boss 19 having two legs 17, 18, Fig. 4, one of which is spring-held in a casing 15, and the other passes into a casing 13, and is secured thereon by means of a key lock, Fig. 6. Any downward movement of the pump is prevented by the shoulder E which abuts against the clamp fitting 11. To free the pump, a key inserted at 34, Fig. 6, releases locking-levers from slots 29 in the leg 18. Simultaneously the block 33 is lifted by the action of the key and ejects the leg 18 from the casing 13. This allows the rod 20 to be raised, so that the device can be swung around the leg 17 as pivot, leaving the pump ready for withdrawal. The locking-device is secured to the bicycle by a pair of clamp bands tightened on to the bar B by a bolt 6 carrying serrated washers 7, 8. The outer ends of the bands embrace the casings 13, 15 and form a grip for the pump barrel. In a modified form the end of the leg 18 is made flat and is secured to a bracket on the clamp band by means of a separate padlock.
