Abstract

1458421 Concrete element with short wire reinforcements BEKAERT SA NV 8 Jan 1974 [8 Jan 1973] 00791/74 Heading E1W A slab or beam of mortar or concrete having at least one void extending through it with a volume of at least 25% of the total volume of the element and at least part of the element being reinforced by randomly orientated short wire pieces substantially evenly distributes in a concentration relative to that volume of the unit in which they are present within a range of 0.5% to 4.0% by volume of wet mortar or concrete mix. The wires may be of steel and the voids which may be longitudinally extending may be filled with glass fibres, wood fibres, or expanded polystyrene. Additional conventional bar reinforcement may be also present in the element.
