Abstract
1452617 Electron guns RCA CORPORATION 30 Oct 1973 [30 Oct 1972] 50488/73 Heading H1D An electron gun, e.g. for a colour vidicon camera tube, is fabricated by providing a support member 26 having an opening provided therein and having its centre on the axis of the gun, then providing by means of an optical aligning process an aperture 42 in the centre of an annular electrode member 28 which has an outside surface which fits precisely in the opening in the support member, thereby ensuring that the aperture 42 is centred on the axis of the tube. The method is particularly suitable where the aperture 42 is very fine and consequently difficult to centre by manipulation in situ. The aperture 42 is formed in a disc 40 welded to the bottom of an inner cup 30. The support member 26 can have three spring projections to grip the electrode.
