Abstract

Ball bearings.-Annular ball bearings are fitted to bottom brackets and hubs of motor or other cycles so as to be readily removable, and are positioned by shoulders a', b<1> in approximately the same plane, formed in the bracket or hub a<2> and on the spindle b. As shown, the shoulder a<1> is formed on a threaded liner l inserted in the end of the bracket. A threaded plug h screwed into the bracket or liner bears against the outer race only, and is locked by a screw m which also serves as a lubricator. The inner ball race is not clamped. When the liner is dispensed with, the race c may be locked by a grub screw inserted through a hole in the bracket.
