Abstract

514,931. Bearings for bicycle wheel-hubs. BAYLISS, WILEY, & CO., Ltd., and BAYLISS, C. T. June 13, 1938, No. 17445. [Class 12 (i)] The spindle of a free-wheel cycle hub has screw threaded end portions 3, 4, and an unscrewed middle portion 1 to which a double bearing cone 13, 14 is firmly secured. The double bearing cone has two back-to-back ball bearing races supporting the hub 2 and one end of a free wheel unit 11 respectively. The bore of the cone 13, 14 may be plain or splined and driven on to splines 17 formed on the spindle. Alternatively it may be soldered to the spindle.
