Abstract

1449475 Sealing panel edges PLANACORD SA & CO KG 17 Dec 1973 [21 Dec 1972] 58429/73 Heading E1J Sealing strips 17 disposed along the upper and lower edges of a partition panel are resiliently urged outwardly by springs 22 and are retractable against the spring action by a linkage which includes pull rods 31, 32 for the upper and lower strips respectively which rods are simultaneously operable by means of a common member accessible from one side edge of the panel. The member is a pivotal lever 33 which can be foot-operated by means of an extension 41 movable inwardly and outwardly of the panel by a Bowden cable 43. The lever 33 can be locked in its lower position (with the strips 17 retracted) by means of a rod on the lever engaging beneath a stop on the panel's frame, Figs. 1 and 2 (not shown). Alternatively, the lever can be so locked by a plate 49 secured to the lever 33 and slidable in a guide 51, a ratchet 48 having a pivot 53 slidable in aligned slots 57, 58 in the plate 49 and guides 51, and a spring-loaded finger 54 pivoted to the plate 49. On depressing the lever 33, the finger 54 engages the ratchet to pivot it into a slot 50 in the guide 51 whereby to lock the seals in their retracted position. Depressing the lever 33 a second time causes the finger 54 to pivot the rachet out of the slot 50 and then disengages the finger from the ratchet so that the lever 33 can pivot upwardly and release the sealing strips 17.
