Abstract

1,002,473. Stay devices; clamp fastenings. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO. Ltd. Dec. 17, 1963 [March 29, 1963], No. 12555/63. Headings E2B and E2F. A stay device for hinged parts, e.g. a window or door, comprises a stay bar 1 pivotally connected to one part and slidable through a guide member 4 pivotally mounted on the other part, a locking collar 22 operated by a lever 26 engaging over the upper part 6 of the guide member and being provided with diametrically opposed keys 24 each engaging a keyway 19 formed on the outer surface of the part 6. The arrangement is such that in one position of the collar 22 each key 24 is located in one or other of the upper end portions 21 of the keyway 19, in which position the bar 1 is free to slide through the guide member, but on rotating the collar 22, each key 24 is moved to a position beneath a horizontal part 20 of the keyway and the collar 22 acts on the bar 1 to clamp it in the guide member. As shown the bar 1 is formed with indentations 18 adapted to cooperate with a corresponding projection 17 formed at the bottom of the upper part 6 of the guide member.
