Abstract

144,516. Nevin, J. March 11, 1919. Limbs, artificial. -In order to produce a resilient foot action, the ankle joint is composed of a pin 4 working in a vertical slot or slots in side bars 6 connected to the shank part 2. Rubber cushions 8 are interposed between shoulders on the foot and the shank portions, and the parts are held together by a flexible cord 9 which passes over a roller 10 on the shank. The ends of the cord are fitted with screwed rods for nuts 12 and between these nuts and the faces of the recesses in which they work, springs 13 are interposed. The aline.-ment of the foot is secured by the part 15 of the shank which overlaps the heel and the part 16 which works in a recess in the instep.
