Abstract
569,169. Boots and shoes. DACK L. T. J. July 26, 1943, No. 12100. [Class 17 (ii)] Heels.-One or more unenclosed springs are located under the heel of a boot or shoe so as to be subject to bending stress by the weight of the wearer. The spring may be formed by bending a rod or tube in the direction of the length of. the foot to extend between the heel seat and a part which makes contact with the ground. The spring may comprise two separate C-shaped springs, as shown, or by in a single piece formed by joining one or both ends at top and bottom by transverse members. Alternatively, the springs may be of S, or circular, or oval shape. A heel seat 6 is secured across the springs and a flexible platform 2 extends forwardly from between the springs at the parts lb, where it is secured, to a rebate in the sole 4. The upper may be secured round the tops 1a of the springs and secured by a bow 9 of ribbon. A top piece is detachably secured to the heel. In a high-heeled construction, the upper parts of the springs extend forwardly under the waist, and in a further construction to simulate a wedgeheel, the top and bottom parts of the spring are placed between the heel seat and a rearward sole extension which may be formed by splitting the sole at its rear end.
