191,172. Hansen, H. Oct. 10, 1921. Fastening. - Ankle bars of shoes formed of a continuous strip of material have the two opposite ends connected to the heel portion of the shoe by concealed elastic material. The ankle bars 17 are preferably cut out of one piece of material and may have forward extensions 17<a> secured to the fore part of the upper. The ends 17 pass through slots 21 in the upper lining and are attached to elastic 19 secured to the heel at 22. Any number of bars 17 may be used secured to one or more strips of elastic.
