Abstract

144,483. Moor, W. C. June 26, 1919. Clinometers.-A clinometer for aircraft or for other purposes comprises a circular base 1 formed with an annular trough 21 containing non-freezing liquid 28. A graduated semi-circular vertical tube 25 is connected to the trough at opposite ends of a diameter of the base, and two vertical graduated tubes 31 are also connected to the trough in a diametral plane at right-angles to the plane of the tube 25. The outer ends of the tubes 31 have rubber &c. closures 34. The base 1 has a central recess 2 in which is pivoted a compass needle 16, a shoulder 3 on the base being marked with compass graduations. The needle 16 is covered by a glass 10. In a modification, the base is formed with an annular recess into which are fitted two semicircular tubes containing liquid and communicating with two troughs into which the ends of the tube 25 pass.
