Abstract

1444196 Tapping device ASHTON CONTAINERS Ltd 28 April 1975 [14 May 1974] 21394/74 Heading B8T A preferably plastics discharge controlling device comprises a bush 12 with a radial flange 15, secured in a container outlet 11 by a washer 18 and screw threaded lock nut 19, a screw plug 13 for engaging internal screw threads 16 of the bush and a discharge duct 14 having a tubular end section 14a with external screw threads and locking means for engaging the plug such that rotation at the locked duct section causes the plug to screw out of the bush whilst simultaneously being replaced by the duct section. The locking means comprise axially projecting dogs 26 provided with resilient compressible fingers 27 for engaging arcuate recesses 21 in the plug, the fingers ensuring that the plug is moved clear of the bush when it has been unscrewed. Recesses 20 are engaged by a tool inside the container to secure the plug and bush in the outlet and a pull wire secured to the inner end of the plug may pull the unscrewed plug clear of the bush.
