Abstract

PCT No. PCT/EP95/01292 Sec. 371 Date Dec. 9, 1996 Sec. 102(e) Date Dec. 9, 1996 PCT Filed Apr. 7, 1995 PCT Pub. No. WO95/27663 PCT Pub. Date Oct. 19, 1995A closure for a container having a closure lower member and a screw cap in which the closure lower member is connectable with a base member to the container aperture. The closure lower member has a pouring spout connected to the base member. The screw cap has a cap bottom and a cap side wall with an internal thread adapted to be screwed onto and unscrewed from the pouring spout which has an external thread. The cap side wall of the screw cap in a region of its free end face terminates in at least one latching lug, the latching lugs of the screw cap co-operating with latching projections of the closure lower member to form a latch connection. In a screwing on direction the closure lower member has a shallow rising flank which merges into a steep latching flank and also forms the latching connection with the latching lugs, the connection being reversible by displacement of the latching lugs in relation to the latching projections. A child protection means can easily be canceled because the closure lower member has an annular flange molded on, which projects towards the cap side wall, overlapping the latching lugs at least partly, and the annular flange carries latching projections on the inside which faces the latching lugs.

Description

The invention relates to a closure for a container from a lower closure part and a screw cap, in which the lower closure part can be connected to the container opening by means of a base part and has a pouring spout which is connected to the base part, in which the screw cap has a cap base and an internal thread Cap jacket can be screwed onto the externally threaded pouring spout and unscrewed from it, the cap jacket of the screw cap running out in the area of the free end face in at least one latching tab, the latching tabs of the screw cap being covered by latching cams of the lower closure part formed on an annular flange to form a latching connection and cooperate with them, the locking cams having a flat rising flank in the screwing direction, which merges into a steep locking flank and form the locking connection with the locking tabs, which by moving the locking tabs relative to the locking tabs can be canceled.

Such a closure is shown in DE-A-41 39 896 as known. In this known closure, locking cams are formed on the jacket side of a pull-out bellows, which are directed radially inward only when the bellows is turned in and come into engagement with counter-elements on the outside of a cap jacket. On the other hand, if the bellows is extended, the locking cams are directed outwards and are axially widely spaced from the corresponding parts of the cap shell, which are to be understood in the broader sense as locking tabs, and are then not effective.

Another closure is known from DE 42 09 784 A1. In this known closure, the snap connection between the screw cap and the bellows is formed. For this purpose, the end face of the cap jacket is provided all around with snap-in receptacles into which snap-in cams snap onto the bellows of the lower closure part. To release the locking connections, the bellows must be pressed together so that the locking cams are deflected radially inwards and moved out of the locking receptacles in the cap jacket. This deflection of the bellows requires considerable effort, especially when it is a stable closure for large containers.

It is an object of the invention to design the latching connections in a closure of the type mentioned at the outset in such a way that they can be easily removed without, however, losing their function as child safety devices.

The object of the invention is achieved in that the ring flange is integrally formed on the lower part of the closure with a free edge projecting toward the cap jacket, that the latching flaps are partially covered by the ring flange, that the locking tabs are thin-walled and can be brought out of engagement with the locking cams arranged on the facing inner side of the ring flange by radial deflection inwards or that the ring flange is elastic and the locking connection can be canceled by pressing the oval flange.

The locking tabs can be pressed radially inwards outside the ring flange, the locking connection with the locking cams on the inside of the ring flange being canceled. This allows the locking tabs of the screw cap to pass through the locking flanks of the locking cams, i.e. the screw cap can be unscrewed from the pouring spout. The locations of the locking tabs are easily recognizable, so that it is no problem for the adult to remove the child lock. The function of the bellows is no longer impaired by the additional ring flange on the lower part of the closure, as in known closures with locking cams on the bellows.

It is also conceivable to provide an elastic ring flange. This can then be ovalized by pressing. As a result, the locking connection is released so that the screw cap is released.

According to an advantageous embodiment of the invention, it is provided that the ring flange in the form of a toothing carries a plurality of locking cams arranged one behind the other, that the locking cams are spaced apart in the same pitch, and that the locking tabs have one or more counter-locking elements that engage with the locking cams form the locking connection.

An advantage is an embodiment, which is characterized in that two locking tabs are arranged diametrically on the cap jacket and that each locking tab is assigned a locking cam on the closure part. By pressing the lower area of the cap casing together, both snap-in connections are released at the same time if the starting points are selected when gripping the screw cap on the snap-in tabs. The screw cap so compressed and compressed can then also be unscrewed from the pouring spout at the same time.

The attachment of the ring flange to the lower part of the closure is preferably carried out so that the pouring spout is integrally formed on the lower part of the closure and that the annular flange is formed on the shoulder concentrically to the pouring spout and forms an annular receptacle for the locking tabs of the screw cap.

So that the deflection of the locking tabs can be easily carried out, it is provided according to a further embodiment that the locking tabs extend over part of the circumference of the cap shell and are radially easily deflected. This creates a larger attachment area for gripping the screw cap.

The closure consists of a lower closure part 10, which comprises a base part 11 and a pouring spout 15. The base part 11 can be snapped into a container opening. The pouring spout 15 has an external thread onto which an internally threaded screw cap 20 can be screwed on and off. The screw cap 20 carries the internal thread on the inside of a cap jacket 21. The pouring spout 15 is closed in the delivery state by means of a sealing plate 16. The sealing plate 16 can be torn out of the pouring spout 15 by means of a grip tab 17.

The cap jacket 21 of the screw cap 20 ends on the free end face in two diametrically opposed locking tabs 22 which extend over part of the circumference of the screw cap 20, as can be seen in FIG. 2. The transition from the pouring spout 15 to the lower closure part 10 is as paragraph 13 educated. A circumferential ring flange 14 is formed on the shoulder 13, which is directed towards the cap jacket 21 and forms a receiving space 26 with the pouring spout 15 for the latching tabs 22 of the screw cap 20 when it is screwed onto the pouring spout 15. The ring flange 14 carries on its inside, ie facing the locking tabs 22, locking cams 23 which have flat rising edges 24 in the screwing-on direction. The rising edges 23 merge into steep locking edges 25. The latching lugs 22 carry counter-latching elements 22a, as are shown in more detail in FIG. 3. The counter-latching elements 22a are arranged at an equal spacing from one another and are tooth-like. The counter-locking elements 22a snap into the spaces formed between the locking cams 23. In order to prevent the screw cap 20 from being unintentionally unscrewed, the counter-latching elements 22a also have a steep latching flank which bears against the latching flanks 25 of the latching cams 23.
The locking cams 23 themselves are arranged in the form of a toothing over the entire circumference of the ring flange 14 in a constant division. This division corresponds to the division of the counter-latching elements 22a.

If the screw cap 20 is gripped and compressed in the area of the locking tabs 22, then the locking tabs 22 are attached to the ring flange 14 out of engagement with the locking cam 23. The screw cap 20 can then be unscrewed from the pouring spout 15.

When the screw cap 20 is screwed onto the pouring spout 15, counter-latching elements 22a of the latching tabs 22 slide over the flat rising flanks 24 of the latching cams 23 on the ring flange 14.

A single snap connection is normally sufficient as a child lock. However, the two diametrically arranged snap-in connections increase safety and make it easier for adults to remove parental controls.
