Abstract

PCT No. PCT/DE93/00279 Sec. 371 Date Nov. 28, 1994 Sec. 102(e) Date Nov. 28, 1994 PCT Filed Mar. 25, 1993 PCT Pub. No. WO93/18983 PCT Pub. Date Sep. 30, 1993A container having a screw cap and a lower closure member to be connected to the container opening by a base member with a pouring spout connected thereto by an extendible bellows. The screw cap is adapted to be screwed onto and off the pouring spout. In order to render the closure childproof the pouring spout of the lower closure member, beyond its external thread, in a transitional region directed towards the bellows, carries a catch projection, which in the screwing-on direction comprises a gradually rising flank and merges into a steep flank. The cap side wall in the fully screwed-on position is in positive engagement with the catch projection and prevents unscrewing of the screw cap. By pressing inwardly the bellows in the region of the catch projection, the positive engagement between the screw cap and the pouring spout is cancelled and the screw cap is released for being unscrewed.

Description

The invention relates to a closure for a container from a lower closure part and a screw cap, in which the lower closure part can be connected to the container opening by means of a base part and has a pouring spout which is connected to the base part of the lower closure part by means of an elastic, extendable bellows and in which the screw cap with a cap base and an internally threaded cap jacket can be screwed on and off on the externally threaded pouring spout.

In these known closures, at least the lower part of the closure is made of elastic material, so that by means of the bellows the pouring spout can be adjusted from the pressed-in starting position into the extended pouring position and returned to the starting position.

In the extended pouring position, the screw cap can be unscrewed from the pouring spout in the known closures of this type, as DE 35 36 514 A1 shows. Pull-out bars can be formed on the cap base and the pouring spout can be closed with a sealing plate. If the sealing plate is removed, even a child can unscrew the screw cap and then have access to the contents.

It is an object of the invention to provide a child safety device for a closure of the type mentioned in the introduction.

This object is achieved according to the invention in that the pouring spout of the lower closure part carries at least one latching cam outside the external thread in the transition area facing the bellows, which has a flat rising flank in the screwing direction and merges into a steep latching flank in that the cap jacket in the screw-on end position with the The locking cam is locked and prevents the screw cap from being unscrewed, and that the snap-in connection between the screw cap and pouring spout can be canceled by pressing the bellows in the area of the locking cam and the screw cap can be released for unscrewing.

With this child lock, the elastic deformability of the bellows is optimally used. The detent cam formed on the pouring spout at the transition area to the bellows is in detent connection with the cap jacket. The locking connection can be triggered and the screw cap released for unscrewing by radially pressing in the bellows in the area of the locking cam. This requires two operations at the same time that a child cannot do. The closure is childproof. Only if the bellows is deformed radially and the screw cap is turned in the unscrewing direction at the same time can the screw cap be unscrewed from the pouring spout.

According to an advantageous embodiment, it is provided that two locking cams are formed diametrically on the pouring spout, since the bellows is gripped diametrically during its deformation and.

A simple latching connection to the cap jacket is achieved according to one embodiment in that the cap jacket has at least one latching receptacle for each latching cam, which is designed as an axially directed recess in the free end region of the cap jacket.

If it is provided that the cap jacket has detent receptacles and detent flaps alternately on the circumference in uniform division, the screw cap can be secured in several angular positions, which is advantageous for the design of the screw cap in order to compensate for tolerances.

It can be provided that the locking receptacles have a portal-like cross-section and have a width that corresponds to the width of the locking tabs, and that the walls delimiting the locking receptacles are radially aligned in the cap jacket. The injection mold for producing the screw cap can be made simpler.

Tolerance compensation in the axial direction is achieved if it is provided that in the screw-on end position of the screw cap, the catch receptacles of the cap shell extend at least over part of the axial dimension of the catch cams.

Adequate locking of the locking cams in the locking receptacles of the cap jacket is achieved if the design is such that the width of the locking receptacles corresponds approximately to the average circumferential dimension of the locking cams.

For handling the closure it is advantageous if it is provided that the regions of the bellows to be deformed are provided with an additional marking.

The closure according to the invention consists of a screw cap 10 and a lower closure part 20. The lower closure part 20 is provided with a U-shaped base part 21 which can be snapped onto a container neck of a container provided with a locking bead. An elastic bellows 22 adjoins the base part 21 and can be brought into an extended position according to FIG. 1. If the bellows 22 is pressed in in the direction of the container neck, then it assumes the starting position shown in FIG. 2. The bellows 22 merges into a pouring spout 23 with an external thread 24. the pouring spout 23 is closed by means of a sealing plate 25 formed over predetermined breaking points. The sealing plate 25 provided with a handle 29 can be pulled off the pouring spout 23 when the closure is brought into the pouring position and the screw cap 10 is unscrewed in order to open the closure.

The screw cap 10 consists of a cap base 12 and a cap jacket 11 with an internal thread 13 so that it can be screwed onto and off the external thread 24 of the pouring spout 23. On the one facing the bellows 22 The transition area of the pouring spout 23 is formed diametrically to one another by two locking cams 26 which are provided with a flat rising flank 27 rising in the screwing-on direction and transition into a steeply falling locking flank 28. The latching flank 28 is preferably aligned radially. The locking cams 26 work together with the free end face of the cap jacket 11. The end face of the cap jacket 11 alternately carries latching tabs 14 and latching receptacles 15 into which the latching cams 26 can snap. The locking tabs 14 are bent outwards when the screw cap 10 is screwed over the rising flanks 27 of the locking cams 26 so that they can pass through the locking cams 26. In the unscrewing direction, the latching lugs 14 abut the steep latching flanks 28 of the latching cams 26 and thus prevent the screw cap 10 from being unscrewed. The latching receptacles 15 and the latching tabs 14 have approximately the same width and are distributed uniformly over the end face of the cap jacket 11, the latching receptacles 15 have portal-like cross section and are open towards the end face of the cap jacket 11. The walls delimiting the locking receptacles 15 are aligned radially. The width of the locking receptacles 15 corresponds approximately to the average circumferential dimension of the locking cams 26 in order to obtain a clear locking connection.

The locking connection between the locking cams 26 of the pouring spout 23 and the cap jacket 11 can also be realized with counter-locking cams on the inside of the cap jacket 11. In any case, the latching connections can be released by radially pressing in the bellows 22 while maintaining the latching cams 26 and the screw cap 10 can be released for unscrewing. The pouring spout 23 is pulled so far inwards that the locking cams 26 are guided out of the locking receptacles 15 in the cap jacket 11.
