Abstract

1443132 Gas-tight sealed containers; portable containers DRG PACKAGING Ltd 28 Nov 1974 51555/74 Headings B8T and B8D A container comprises a plastics outer cup 1, preferably injection moulded in high density polyethylene, and having a thickened upper rim portion 10 with an external screw thread 6, a resilient gas-tight liner cup 2, preferably thermoformed from a high barrier acrylontrile polymer, supported inside the outer cup by the bulge 8 in recess 7 and having an upper rim portion 9 extending outwardly above the upper rim portion 10, and a plastics lid 3 having a top 11 and an internally screw-threaded side wall 12 engaging the outer cup screw thread 6, and the lid having a gas-tight seal 4, preferably a coated fibre seal, on the underface to abut against the upper rim portion 9 to provide a gas-tight sealed container. The annular projecting ring 13 on the lid aids stacking of sealed containers and the shoulder 5 rests on the upper rim portion 9 of the liner cup when unsealed containers are stacked.
