Abstract

1441772 Preventing ribbon winding ATELIER ROANNAIS DE CONSTRUCTIONS TEXTILES 21 Sept 1973 [21 Sept 1972 10 May 1973 14 June 1973] 44522/73 Heading D1J A main traverse generating means 6, Fig. 1, causes a thread guide in the form of a hollow cylinder 3 to move back and forth across the package surface, the cylinder 3 being rotated as part of an air turbine so that a wavy groove therein gives the yarn a supplementary oscillation to prevent ribbon winding. The yarn 1 extends across a secant of the cylinder 3. In Fig. 1 the main traverse generating means 6 is a grooved drum. The hollow cylinder 3 is carried by guide means sliding on parallel bars 4, 5; the guide means having a cam member sliding in the groove of the cylinder 6. The cylinder 3 is rotated by compressed air fed through a tube 20. Fig. 7 shows a hollow cylinder 33 in which there is a groove 35 on a chamfer 32 that can be used to lead a yarn into the wavy groove 34. Fig. 9 shows a hollow cylinder that has means 38 for guiding yarn that has jumped out of the wavy groove back into the groove. The slot in the cylinder 3 may define several waves of different or indenitical wave-lengths.
