Abstract

1440988 Vehicle headlamps WESTFALISCHE METALL INDUSTRIE KG HUECK & CO 13 Dec 1973 [14 Dec 1972] 57910/73 Heading F4R A dipped-beam headlamp has a front glass 1, Fig. 1, so constructed that it produces a beam with a light-dark cut-off having an upwardly inclined nearside section 2, Fig. 3, a horizontal offside section 4 and a step 3 between the sections. In the absence of the front glass the lamp produces a beam of the form shown in Fig. 2, the regions A, B and C of the glass being provided with prisms to deflect the portions A<SP>1</SP>, B<SP>1</SP> and C<SP>1</SP> of the beam in the directions of the arrows into new positions A<SP>11</SP>, B<SP>11</SP> and C<SP>11</SP>, Fig. 3. The region D has prisms and lenses which simultaneously deflect and disperse the portion D<SP>1</SP> of the beam into the new position D<SP>11</SP>, and the region E has cylindrical lenses which disperse the portion E<SP>1</SP> of the beam in the horizontal direction. The region F of the glass is used only for main beam illumination.
