Abstract

1438914 Junction pieces TOUR AGENTURER AB 20 March 1974 [22 March 1973] 12287/74 Heading F2G [Also in Division F4] A pipe junction piece for use in a central heating system comprises a casing 10 with a hollow interior, a hot water inlet bushing 13 and an outlet bushing 12 disposed opposite one another on the casing and both opening into the hollow interior, the bushing 12 leading to a radiator feed pipe 27, an inlet bushing 11 for connection to the radiator outlet and opening into the hollow interior at a point between the bushings 12, 13, and a further outlet bushing 14 opening into the hollow interior at a point spaced from the bushings 12, 13, the bushing 14 being connected either to the return flow pipe or to the next radiator in the system, a tubular insert 17 being disposed inside the easing 10, the insert having end flanges 16, 19 and either being disposed as shown for use in a by-pass system wherein incoming hot water is divided to pass into the pipe 27 and also round the flange 19 to the bushing 14 after mixing with water passing through the insert from the bushing 11, or with the insert disposed so that its flange 16 is a press-fit in a flange 25 in the bushing 13 and its flange 19 is a press-fit in the opening 26 to the bushing 12 wherein no bypass water flows directly between the bushings 13 and 14. In this way, by suitable disposition of the insert 17, a single casing 10 may be used with either so-called single pipe or two pipe systems. A further bushing 15 is provided opposite the bushing 14 and this contains a valve body 21 which may be screwed in by means of a slot 23 so that its inner end seats on the edge 20 of the casing 10. The valve body 21 is sealed by an 0-ring 22 and a cover nut 24 is normally used to cover the bushing 15.
