Abstract

143,838. Wingate, W. May 23, 1919, [Convention date]. Angle-measuring instruments. - Relates to bearing-finders for use on ships. A sight-arm 6 pivoted near to one end moves over a semicircular scale on a rectangular base-plate 1, the diameter of the scale being parallel and adjacent to one side 20 of the base-plate. Recesses 3 are provided at every 11“ degrees, in which engages a pin 16 fixed beneath the foresight 4 on the sight-arm 6. The sight-arm is pivoted on the setscrew 7, which is fitted with a circular level 8 easily seen through backsight 5. In use, the base is held against any fore and aft or athwartship surface with the proper side in contact therewith.
