Abstract

1438362 Textile tubes; threaded holding means E JUNGBECKER C JUNGBECKER G JUNGBECKER and J JUNGBECKER JNR [trading as JOS ZIMMERMANN] 20 Aug 1973 [24 Aug 1972] 39276/73 Heading B8M A textile tube comprises a thread holding device at its lower end, the holding device comprising at least one cantilever arm 24 mounted at a distance from the lower edge of the tube on the outside thereof and extending circumferentially thereof, a thread gripping depression 25 being provided in the tube circumferentially adjacent the inner end of the or each arm. In use, a thread end held by the arm 24 may be manually gripped in the depression 25 for removal of the end, e.g. for joining to an end of a further package. In a preferred embodiment two oppositely extending arms 28, 29 are provided with a common thread gripping depression 30 between the arms. It is preferred that the arm(s) and depression lie within the contours of the tube. A circumferential groove 23 may be provided for taking-up a thread reserve, the groove preferably being provided with a raised portion 31 with or without adjacent depressions 32 to enable an operator to press the initial end of thread into the groove prior to engagement with the holding arm 24. The tube may be cylindrical or frusto-conical, with or without perforations 21, and is preferably integrally moulded from plastics material.
