Abstract

1453698 Pill dispenser for animals COOPER McDOUGALL & ROBERTSON Ltd 25 Jan 1974 [26 Oct 1972] 49500/72 Heading A5R A pill dispensing device for dispensing pills into an animals throat comprises a cylindrical nozzle 4 and a barrel 3 with four resilient webs extending longitudinally along the interior surface of the nozzle and projecting into the bore of the nozzle at an angle to the line joining the point of attachment of the webs to the nozzle axis, said webs holding one or more pills for expulsion by a rod 6. The webs 5 are thin compared with the nozzle wall. taper towards their free end and are spaced symmetrically about the nozzle interior. The external surface of the nozzle 4 is rounded and tapered and a stop 2 prevents movement of the rod from the nozzle. A spring may be provided for rod retraction. and finger grips provided on the barrel 3. Collars on the rod 6 and in the barrel prevent the rod being removed from the barrel. The barrel cross-section may be annular or a hollow square, in the latter case the rod crosssection is square. The device is preferably of polypropylene but may be of other plastics, wood or metal.
