Abstract
1,081,699. Spray-producers. M. J. FINN. Dec. 17, 1965 [Dec. 17, 1964], No. 51424/64. Heading B2F. An apparatus suitable for spraying crops or injecting a liquid into worm holes comprises a swirl-producing member 12 located within a passage 6 of a barrel portion 1A and provided on its front end 13 with an annular rib 16, said rib being formed with a pair of tangential slots (20), Fig. 2 (not shown) therethrough, and a cap 11 having a central aperture 19 and mounted on the barrel portion 1A by screw threads so that its inner face engages the ribs 6. One side of each slot (20) is approximately tangential to the inner cylindrical surface formed by the rib 16 and the other side is tangential to a coaxial circle of the same diameter. The liquid is forced up a tube 4 towards the nozzle by a reciprocable piston, Figs. 3, 5 and 7 (not shown) and passes non- return valves 8 and 10. The member 12 may be formed with an annular portion 14 or a solid portion (25), Fig. 4 (not shown) which engages the valve 10 which may be of a plastics material. Fig. 6, (not shown) depicts a nozzle for injecting the liquid into worm-holes and Fig. 5, (not shown) depicts an angularly adjustable nozzle.
