Abstract

1,144,910. Bobbins; transfer tail retaining device. FIBER INDUSTRIES Inc. 12 Oct., 1966 [22 Oct., 1965], No. 45528/66. Heading B8M. A device for retaining a transfer tail during winding of yarn on a cylindrical bobbin 14, comprises a cylindrical cap having two portions 10, 11 of different outer diameters, the larger diameter being equal to the outer diameter of the bobbin, and thesmaller diameter being less than the inner diameter of the bobbin, resilient means being provided on the smaller diameter portion for securing the cap to the bobbin when the smaller diameter portion 11 is inserted in the end of the bobbin, the larger diameter portion 10 forming a smooth continuation of the bobbin surface. The resilient means preferably comprises a rubber ring 13 carried in a groove 12 in the smaller diameter portion 11. The device is preferably provided with a yarn retaining slit in the end remote from the smaller diameter portion. The angle of the slit may be between 10 degrees and 85 degrees to the plane of the end of the device.
