Abstract

1434568 Liquid cargoes transferring EXXON RESEARCH & ENG CO 12 Oct 1973 [31 Oct 1972] 47735/73 Addition to 1408020 Heading B8E [Also in Division F2] A liquid cargo transfer system for transferring cargo from a float which may be a vessel 10 to an offtakes moored in tandem which may be another vessel comprises a floating hose 18 which may be stored when not in use within the ship 10. To facilitate paying out the hose 18 it is mounted on a carriage 36 which runs lengthwise of the ship on wheels 66 or tracks 38. The carriage may be driven by a winch driven endless cable 46, Fig. 6. At its inboard end the hose 18 is connected to a steel pipe 40 which is connectable by a quick-disconnect coupling 32 to the floats piping 30 when the hose has been paid out. The hose 18 has self closing check valves 52, Fig. 5, at each end to close it when either end is disconnected. The hose 18 is supported over the track by inclined rollers 22 to aid its movement. The carriage 36 has depending plates 74 having openings 72 which can be aligned with slots 76, 78, Fig. 7, to receive a locking pin 80 to hold the carriage in its end or predetermined intermediate positions.
