Abstract

1403740 Transferring liquid cargoes CONTINENTAL OIL CO 5 Dec 1972 [20 March 1972] 53166/74 Divided out of 1403739 Heading B8E A tanker bow products line handling system comprises means to haul a floating products line from the water through an opening above or at deck level to a point adjacent the tankers product line terminal for connection thereto. The deck 11 of the bow 10 of a tanker has a notch 200 in which is mounted a roller 61 over which extends an A-frame 201 having a pulley 202. A cable 25 extends from a windlass 52 to be attached by a shackle 19 to a band 17 on the floating products line 13 while a wire rope 30 passes from a windlass 54 over the pulley 202 to be attached by a shackle 20 to a band 18. In operation a sequential actuation of the windlass 54, 57 lifts the products line 13 out of the water and then draws over the pulley 61 to a position for connection to the tankers products line 14 by a flange 15.
