Abstract

PURPOSE: To hold the position of a ship within the allowable range by a method wherein a piping for liquid loading is connected with a joint, which allows only the lateral movement of the ship, and the lengthwise displacement and the pitching deviation are detected and, when detected displacement and/or deviation are not of the predetermined range, each of mooring lines is hauled in or veered out to bring the ship in the predetermined range.
CONSTITUTION: The ship is moored at its head, stern and side with the mooring lines 6 to wharf 7. Pipings 8 and 10 for liquid loading of the wharf and of the ship are connected with the joint 9, which allows only the lateral movement of the ship. The lengthwise displacement and the pitching deviation of the ship are measured with an optical or laser device 11 and 12 installed at the supporting parts of the respective pipings 8 and 10. When the detected displacement and/or the deviation are out of the predetermined range, winches 2W5 for the mooring lines 6 are operated to haul in or veer out the lines in order to hold the position of the ship within the predetermined range.
