Abstract

1431404 Tufting machine SINGER CO 16 Jan 1974 [3 May 1973] 02028/74 Heading D1G A tufting machine has an adjustable needle bar stroke mechanism comprising a drive shaft including a first shaft member 66 receiving a connecting rod 24 connected to the needle bar and disposed between a pair of co-axial second shaft members mounted each in a bearing block 48, the axes of the first and second shaft members being offset by an amount which can be varied to select a particular stroke. As shown a tongue 68 and groove 52 connection is provided between parts 46 and 66, bolts 62 securing the parts in the chosen eccentric relationship. Adjustable counterweights may be provided, these may be parts (72 Fig. 2 not shown) connected to the ends of parts 46 remote from the part 66 by a similar tongue and groove connection, or alternatively these may be parts (74, 76, Fig. 5 not shown) attached to the elements 52-56 already provided.
