Abstract

1427857 Space heaters ANA AXLANDER 1 March 1974 [23 March 1973] 9310/74 Heading F4S A space heater comprises at least two pipe loops 2, Fig. 4, carrying a heating fluid and arranged at different levels, the loops being connected to a feed tube 8 at a level higher than that of their connection to a collecting tube 10. The intention is that in the event of an air accumulation in the pipe system such air (until vented via valves 13 or 13<SP>1</SP>) will restrict flow of heating fluid only in the upper loop or loops, whilst the lower loop or loops function normally. The pipe loops may be S-shaped as shown or they may comprise U-tubes (Fig. 5). Fig. 3 shows an arrangement of the feed pipe 8 wherein in the event of an air pocket in the jacket 12 restricting heating fluid flow out of the open upper end of pipe 15, a certain amount of said fluid can still reach the pipes 2 via ports 16 in the pipe 15. The inlets 14 to the pipes 2 may be of differing cross-section at the different levels. Fig. 2,'shows in plan, a space heating radiator in which additional pipe loops 2<SP>1</SP>, generally similar to the pipe loops 2, are incorporated (see also Fig. 1). Corrugated-plate fin elements 3, 3<SP>1</SP> are provided on the tubes 2, 2<SP>1</SP>, and the radiator comprises a front plate 4 and a rear plate 5 spaced apart by vertical plates 6<SP>1</SP>
