Abstract

1422573 Convector space heaters TAISEI INDUSTRY CO Ltd 19 Jan 1973 [11 July 1972] 2866/73 Heading F4S A convector space heater comprises a cabinet 1 divided by an upright insulating partition into two air passages in each of which is a planar array 2 and 2<SP>1</SP> of finned heat exchange tubes, the two arrays being connected in series and disposed at an oblique angle to the vertical, the tubes extending laterally and being supplied with a heating medium such as steam or hot water via a conduit 7 and header tank 6. In use air entering through inlets 4 in the front, rear and bottom of the cabinet flows upwardly over the tubes and leaves via a top outlet 5. A humidifier 9, provided to humidify the heated air leaving the cabinet, has an inclined apertured side wall 10, and includes a tray 8 supplied with hot water via a pipe 12 leading from the top of header tank 6; a valve 14 controls the flow of water to the humidifier. The top wall of the humidifier has a closable opening 11, and water can be removed from tray 8 via a drain cock 16. Alternative arrangements of the tube arrays are disclosed (see Figs. 4-8, not shown). For example the arrays may be arranged in V- formation (Fig. 7) or aligned (Fig. 6).
