Abstract
1289493 Tubular heat exchangers H VIESSMANN 20 Nov 1969 [23 Nov 1968] 56936/69 Headings F4A and F4S A heat exchanger comprises a plurality of substantially straight tubes 1 connected at each end to walls 2, 3 provided with cover plate 4, 10 to form header chambers, one cover plate 4 having closable apertures 8 registering with the tubes 1 and the other having in its lower portion, a closable outlet with a sleeve 12. The chamber formed by cover plate 4 is divided by a partition 5 into two chambers 6, 7 having inlet and outlet connections for secondary water to be heated. The apertures 8 are threaded and sealed with screw caps (9), Fig. 2 (not shown), and the outler sleeve 12 is also closed by a cap. The tubes 1 may be smooth or ribbed. A sheet metal jacket 14 having inlet and outlet pipes 17, 16 is provided for the primary heating water, and a flow deflector 15 also acts as a stabilizer for the heat exchanger. For cleaning the tubes, the screw caps 9 are removed to allow access whereby deposits dislodged can be washed out through outlet sleeve 12. The heat exchanger, without the jacket 14, may be installed directly in a boiler, in which case a closable discharge tube 18 may be attached to the sleeve 12.
