Abstract

1427005 Shot concentrators IMPERIAL METAL INDUSTRIES (KYNOCH) Ltd 15 Feb 1973 [1 March 1972] 9543/72 Heading F3A A shot concentrator comprises a tubular element 20 which is compressible by the shot when the cartridge is fired and acts in the same way as a compressible axial wad to moderate the gas pressure in the cartridge. An end closure 22 may be provided with radial weakenings to facilitate its disintegration. A plug (not shown) may be provided in the rear end of the concentrator so that it can be supplied as a re-loading unit. The tubular element may be formed from foamed polystyrene; and its density may vary from one end to the other. A gas-sealing wad 26 is made of polyethylene.
