Abstract

1425800 Sliding doors E BODE 29 April 1974 [5 May 1973] 18815/74 Heading B7B [Also in Divisions E1-E2] In a pivotable sliding vehicle door which is movable out of the door aperture by means of a swivel arm 10 with a fixed shaft 11, the door end shaft 13 is drivingly connected with the door 1 and the fixed shaft 11 which is driven by a motor is connected with the door-end shaft by transmission means such as a V-belt 15, Fig. 5. As shown in Fig. 2, the door is guided at the top and bottom by rails 3, 6 respectively and in the middle by rail 8 on which a roller 9 runs fixed to the door but pivotable. As seen in Fig. 5 electric motor 20 drives the shaft 11 through appropriate bevel gearing and stepup gears, which transmits power via V-belt 15 and wheels 12, 14 to toothed wheel 16 fixed on shaft 13. The wheel 16 is in mesh with a toothed rack 17 fixed in the door. Shaft 13 has a guiding roller 18 which runs in a guide rail 19 attached to the door to ensure engagement of wheel 16 with rack 17. In another embodiment, Fig. 7, a supporting plate 21 is supported on shaft 13 and carries rollers 22 which are guided in rail 23 to ensure engagement of wheel 16 with rack 17. The V-belt 15 may be tensioned by a roller 24 mounted on a lever 25 and pivotable about the adjusting axle 26. Easing of the V-belt allows the door to be moved by hand. The ends 27, 28 of a band 29, Fig. 6, which is led around rollers mounted inside the door, are attached to the supporting plate 21, so that the rack and wheel are not visible from outside.
