Abstract

1410678 Guiding cables A BRUSSELLE 29 Dec 1972 [29 Dec 1971] 60111/72 Heading B8B A carriage 15 for guiding a cable 30 to and from a winch drum 3, is suspended from a single cross bar 20 by rollers on the carriage, engaging upper and lower tracks on the bar 20. A longitudinally grooved shaft 12 chain driven from the drum 3, rotatably drives a screw 13 slidable along the shaft 12, the screw driving a wheel secured to a shaft 17 transverse of the shaft 12 and terminating in a pinion 18. The latter drives itself along a toothed rack 19 and moves the carriage 15 therewith. The rack 19 transmits loading directly to the bar 20 and is roller link mounted thereto to be movable between upper and lower positions such that as the pinion 18 arrives at the end of the rack 19, it rides around the end to return and in so doing vertically displaces the rack. The lower portion of the carriage 15 comprises vertical rollers between which the cable passes to the drum.
