Abstract
1479281 Gearing for converting rotary motion into reciprocating motion G W FLOYD 12 June 1974 [14 June 1973] 28435/73 Heading F2Q [Also in Division E2] A linear actuating mechanism (e.g. for sliding doors and windows and particularly suitable for electrically operated vehicle window winders), comprises a motor driven pinion A which applies different linear speeds in the same direction to an endless belt-the resulting imbalance is transmitted to two idler pulleys at least one of which is freely movable in a guide which imposes on said pulley a linear motion. As shown in Fig. 1 pinion A acts on two gear-wheels B, C (B having less teeth than C) which have wheels B1 C1 to engage belt portions D1, D2 and idler pulleys El, E2 are linked by a rod F and guided to move linearly. In the embodiment shown in Fig. 3 a slider F movable in a slot S carries the idler pulleys. The toothed drives may be replaced by friction drives if necessary. In a modification of the device shown in Fig. 1 pulley E1 is guided to move in a linear path while pulley E2 follows a non-linear path extending transversely to the path of E1.
