Rollers on cylinders.-A machine for smoothing and polishing the surfaces of spinning- rolls comprises heated calendering- rolls 1, 2, both driven in the same direction, and a presser roll 3 adapted to press a spinning-roll against the calendering-rolls. As shown, the spinning-roll has a metal core 17, a cloth covering 18, and a leather cot 19 stretched over the cloth. The presser roll 3 is mounted in rocker arms 11, and the rolls 1, 2 are heated by radiation from a U-shaped steam pipe 22, 26.
