Abstract

1423793 Multi-colour electrophotography HITACHI Ltd 1 Feb 1974 [5 Feb 1973] 04734/74 Heading G2H In a process in which a photo-conductive sheet 12 is charged, exposed to a light image through a first colour filter 68, and developed to produce an image in a first complementary colour which is then fixed, and the process is repeated a number of times corresponding to the number of colour separations desired, in the charging step in each image-forming process the sheet 12 is charged to a potential close to its saturation value. The potential required to produce saturation increases for the second and subsequent image-forming processes, and is obtained by having a stepwise adjustable high voltage DC supply 100 connected to the electrode 32 of a corona discharge device 30, as shown, or may be obtained by adjustment of the value of a leak resistance connected to a control grid of a corona device, by adjustment of the speed of rotation of the drum 10 carrying the sheet 12 to vary its time of exposure to the corona, or by adjustment of the distance between the corona device 30 and the sheet 12. The developing device 40 includes a reservoir 41-44 and an applicator roller 45-48 respectively for each colour and is movable to bring the appropriate colour into position as required. A roller 70 with a cleaning pad 72 both removes developer carrier liquid from the sheet 12 and fixes the developed images.
