Abstract

1399732 Electrostatic charging apparatus CANON KK 19 May 1972 [20 May 1971 24 May 1971] 23737/72 Heading G2H [Also in Division H1] A photo-conductive member is charged during exposure to a light image, by means of a transparent-backed corona discharge apparatus with an electrode grid between its mouth and the photoconductive member. Preferably the corona discharge apparatus comprises discharge wires 18 in an enclosure formed by side electrodes 20, 20<SP>1</SP> and a transparent rear electrode 21, through which a light image is projected on a photo-sensitive layer 24. Gride electrodes 22 stretch across the mouth of the enclosure formed by the electrodes 20, 20<SP>1</SP> and 21.
