Abstract

1418069 Screw compressors STAL REFRIGERATION AB 22 June 1973 [30 June 1972] 29839/73 Heading F1F A screw compressor comprises a slide gate 8 having a convex surface which rests in the bottom 13 of a recess in the casing 1, and two concave surfaces which co-operate with corresponding surfaces 11, 12 in the outlet port 5, which surfaces 11, 12 prevent the gate 8 from rotating, the gate 8 being further supported by a rod 9 which is slidable in the casing 1. The rod 9 extends through gate 8 and is attached thereto by a spring washer 10. The slide gate 8 is controlled by a piston 15 in a cylinder 16, which piston acts on gate 8 via rod 17, plate 18 and rod 9 against which plate 18 abuts. Movement of gate 8 to the left uncovers opening 14 to vent gas via holes in plate 18 and a channel 19 back to the inlet 4. Cylinder 16 can be subjected to either the outlet or inlet pressure via lines 20, 21.
