Barrels.-Relates to sockets for discharging grenades, removably attached to the muzzle of a rifle, and consists (1) in providing between a stem at the base of the socket and the muzzle of the rifle a renewable bush to form a gas-tight joint, (2) in a ledge, preferably adjustable, dividing the socket into a grenade chamber and a combustion chamber; and (3) in securing the socket to the rifle by means independent of either. In the form shown in Fig. 1, the socket a, having a dividing-ledge c. is fitted at its base with a stem between which and the rifle muzzle is a renewable bush f. The stem is screwed into a bracket g clamped to the nosecap of the rifle by hook bolts h. The bracket g is slotted to clear the bayonet. In a modification, Fig. 3, an attachment for a rifle in which the barrel extends forwardly of the nose-cap comprises a bracket m screwed on the stem and locked by a nut r connected by distance-bolts with a bracket n. engaging the rifle barrel.
