Abstract
The yield of ozone on treating air, oxygen, &c. with silent electric discharges, is increased by reducing the pressure of the air to between 400 and 150 m.m. of mercury and by reducing the temperature to below -10 DEG C. It is particularly advantageous to work at a pressure of 400 m.m. of mercury and a temperature of -100 DEG C. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a) included also the employment of any pressure below 550 m.m. of mercury; and the cooling of the gas was optional. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
