Abstract

1406600 Aluminium-base alloys GLACIER METAL CO Ltd 13 Sept 1972 [16 June 1971] 28221/71 Heading C7A An alloy which is particularly suited for use as a bearing lining comprises, by wt:- 10 to 15% lead 0.01 to 0.5% each of one or more of lithium, magnesium, barium, caesium, potassium or sodium and optionally up to 1% copper up to 1% tin the balance being aluminium and impurities such as silicon. In an alternative embodiment, the barium content may be 0.8 to 4.0%. The alloys are roll bonded to steel backings, the presence of the element, of Groups IA and IIA assisting spheroidization of the lead at temperatures below 600‹C Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 1261912.
