1405974 Hydraulic presses; caulking; trimming EXPERIMENTALNY NAUCHNOISSLEDOVATELSKY INSTITUT KUZNECHNO-PRESSOVOGO MASHINOSTROENIA 12 July 1973 33219/73 Headings B3H B3U and B3W [Also in Divisions B5 and G3] An hydraulic press for applying a pulsating load has a working piston-cylinder 3, 2 whose upper space 6 is supplied with pulsating hydraulic pressure from a main 9 through a pulsator 10 and. whose lower space 7 is continuous connected to an accumulator 28 through a adjustable throttle 27 to enable the applitude of oscillation of the piston to be controlled. The pulsator 10 has a valve 13 urged by a piston 16 under air pressure to a position wherein the main 9 is ducted to the upper space 6. When the pressure rises after a working stroke the valve lifts to connect the main 9 to drain 11. The differential pressure on a pusher 14 causes the pusher to open the valve fully after the initial pressure drop. Finally the air pressure in the space 22 moves the piston 16 to close the drain and the cycle is repeated. The accumulator 23 is supplied with gas pressure, e.g. nitrogen. from a main 32 and liquid pressure from a main 30. The force of the press is determined by the air pressure in the space 22, the frequency of oscillation by the opening of the throttle 20 between the main 9 and the pusher space 18 and the amplitude of oscillation by the throttle 27 opening. The press may be used for producing stepped pipes, caulking and stretching.
