Abstract

1,112,847. Hydraulic presses. VERSON ALLSTEEL PRESS CO. 24 Nov., 1966, No. 52705/66. Heading B5F. [Also in Division B3] A workpiece 52 to be formed around a die 54 by a resiliently expandable diaphragm 38 is accommodated in a cavity 32 formed by end members 12, 24 and an axially movable cylinder 28. The diaphragm 38 has a flange portion 46 held in place by a ring member 58 secured to the end member 12 and is expandable by pressure fluid admitted at 42. The ring member 58 has a downwardly extending relatively flexible portion 74 which is forced into tight engagement with the cylinder 28 by the expanded diaphragm. The end member 24 comprises a removable workpiece-supporting pallet. A wear-resisting sheet 56 is adhesively secured to the diaphragm 38. The cylinder 28 is axially moved by fluid pressure cylinders (30).
