Abstract
1521278 Injection moulding FARRELL PLASTIC MACHINERY CORP 27 Oct 1975 44077/75 Heading B5A An injection moulding device comprises a lower fixed mould part 46, 48 and an upper movable mould part 50 connected by rods 42 to a plate 44 actuated by a first piston and cylinder device 70. The upper mould part 50 is connected to the piston rod 56 of a second piston and cylinder device 52. In use low pressure fluid from a pump 82 operates the first device 70 to bring the mould to a closed condition, fluid from reservoir 64 being drawn through a normally open valve 66 to the space above the piston 54 of the second device 52 and fluid from below the piston 54 being forced back into the reservoir. Continued working of the pump with the mould closed causes the pressure of the working fluid to rise and close the valve 66 through line 100, thereby cutting off the space above the piston of the second device 52 from the reservoir. At the same time valve 96 is opened to allow the, now highly pressurized, working fluid to enter the space above the piston of the second device 52 and apply a high clamping force to the mould. The injection moulding device may form part of an injectionblow moulding machine.
