Abstract

The tool for punching, pressing, rivetting etc. comprises a support (1) in the form of a C, the lower branch (60) holding a die (2) and the upper branch (3) supporting a cylinder (4) which contains two pistons having a coaxial rods (9, 10). The first piston (8) carries the tool bit (18), whilst the second piston carries (7) a pressure plate (17) which holds the workpieces on the die. A spring (11) exerts an upwards force on the second piston but the position of the piston is controlled by fluid under pressure. The interior volume of the cylinder is partitioned into two chambers (61, 62) by a sealed wall (63) which enables the two pistons to be displaced independently of one another.
