Abstract

The process of dehydrating magnesium chloride described in the parent Specification is applied to the dehydration of other chlorides which are decomposed by heat, such as cerium, chromium, and iron chlorides. The process described in the parent Specification may be modified both as regards magnesium chloride and as regards the other chlorides, by partly dehydrating the chlorides by heating preferably under vacuum, before the treatment with synthetic hydrochloric acid. The chlorine and hydrogen may be combined in a chamber separate from the dehydrating-chamber.
